The Queen of Pop, Madonna, takes to the streets of Florence in the new video for ‘Turn Up The Radio’, keeping the paparazzi at bay and driving away on the back seat of a convertible. With the MDNA tour underway, this is sure to become a euphoric anthem of the Summer.
With Martin Solveig back behind the production desk, we knew that the new single by Madonna, lifted from her current MDNA album, was going to be another slice of dance pop. The track truly channels the sense of euphoria that the clubs of today are looking for. The video, reportedly shot by Tom Munro who also directed ‘Give It 2 Me’, captures the good vibes, not by having her thrust around in short shorts, no, but by having Madonna raising her hands up high and singing to the fans as she drives around Florence. The sepia colours of the clip accentuate the goodtime Summer feelings as well as the retro tinged stylings of Madonna, herself.
Of course, there are still a few essential elements that make this a true Madonna video; picking up hot guys as she rocks through the streets, slipping money into the bras of prostitutes and some rather tempting bottom touching.
Standard.
I’m guessing she could do with a bit of extra support from her fans, seeing as she’s been able to receive threats of being sued by Marine Le Pen’s for the use of his image with a swastika on her forehead during a concert in Paris last weekend. She has also been ‘shocking’ us again by getting her boob out, again, and also using a gun as a prop onstage.
Shock, indeed. Maybe that is why her boyfriend, Brahim Zaibat (new toyboy used) isn’t looking too pleased with her, when they were spotted out and about.
Who is next?
So, let’s forget these niggling little problems that the Queen of Pop is facing and focus back on the new video.
The Italian and foreign press has followed a common line in recent months: want to see at all costs Madonna ended the myth, the alleged sales flop MDNA's new album, then the "war" with Lady Gaga.
Of this story we've put a lid on it, ask yourself what is the label that distributes the two pop stars and in response you will get Interscope Records. That's right: both are distributed by the independent label giant Universal, which then runs around the World. Surely the two bright boy of pop they are making a killing.
Do not be surprised if Madonna then plays on the stage to the alleged plagiarism among Express Yourself and Born This Way, snapping a few stanzas of She's Not Me, Which devotes to the alleged rival. Regarding the sales that critics have is X-rayed to make a distinction between Europe and the United States, where in the first case, the album still holds the top of the charts in America and has fallen below the top 100 positions on the Billboard Top 200 Albums. But are we sure can seriously affect the old and new fans?
Judging by the scenery of the San Siro public response is: MDNA likes and dislikes, we are here and the legend never dies.
Away from the controversy over the cost of tickets and the delay record in Rome (1 hour and 15 minutes) that Madonna herself has apologized to the audience of San Siro, renewing his love for our nation and pointing out the slogan Italians Do It Better ovation followed by the presence in the stadium was massive. Not really full house, but almost. Certainly the Prato area around the bridge of triangular shape is the very sold-out. Surrounded by what I call pleasantly rowdy I was able to explore every little humor.
Also for the second Italian round the wait has been frustrating. Takes the stage at 20 o'clock the DJ and producer Martin Solveig (author of the top songs of the album Give Me All Your Luvin 'and Turn Up The Radio) is not immediately recognized.
Only after 45 minutes (again) to delay the start MDNA World Tour 2012 in Milan.
The live show is divided into four parts, almost like a play, which starts with an "Opening" gloomy atmosphere, "Prophecy" dedicated to acoustic performance the most, "Male / Female" where he returned to play on the ambiguity that has both distinguished his character and career of thirty years in the final act "Redemption" in the middle atmosphere of religious choirs, ethnic, and of course the fans in the wake of the most famous songs.
Few innovations compared to previous Italian tour. Another feature is the game of video clips made specifically for the concert and often used as background to the performance or costume changes where the dancers steal the show.
We deliver mainly a Madonna-style version of Dietrich in black and white, his face changed to collage with parts of the mighty of the earth.
As always in times for Madonna prefers to dance ballet shoes hanging in favor of the guitar, with Masterpiece (the hustler who is forgiven promo for the movie soundtrack which WE)
and Turn Up The Radio. But the performance is not convincing, as it is clear to everyone that Madonna can not play the guitar.
Two revelations for the new tour: the son Rocco as a dancer and the Basque band unpublished Kalakan.
True moments of great entertainment: the triumphal entry into the scene with the confessional, the hotel room where Madonna version of Tarantino's Kill Bill is out of the Bang Gang of dancers to the tune of the title track.
And it is the much revered dancers to look where the intermezzo is played Best Friend, with giant screens projecting coffins and cemeteries, quite disconnected to the song.
The schedule favors the songs on the new album and classics most popular, where, however, is unconvincing Like A Virgin. Woe to overturn the song over and whistled by Madonnari, the 5 minute performances were at risk of being boring. Luckily he managed to tear a smile, the dancer is not able to hook the corset of the body. To close the concert Celebration that does not seem to have left the madness of the last concerts. Between high and low, the concert was enjoyable and again in the name of the singer's manic perfection that does not add new elements.
While the trade press will mainly emphasize the presence of VIP's for the evening Donatella Versace and Dolce & Gabbana. Interesting is not it?
Madonna has just started her world tour and she’s immediately attracted criticism for her claims, reported in the Daily Mail, about how she keeps her body toned: "I’m addicted to laxatives and energy drinks." It’s a puzzling thing to say given that anorexia is seen as the illness of our times. A rock star’s diet is not one to take as an example.
A new type of "natural" energy drink, a mixture of laxative vegetable products with added vitamins, has become hugely popular in America. The ingredients inLady Ciccone’s elixir of eternal youth include miso, tempeh, seaweed, soya seeds and Komucha tea.
It’s a strict dietary regime and, clearly, not one to imitate: a rock star’s diet is often overseen by doctors and includes foods to counteract the exhaustion created by the tour.
The Material Girl, who’s in incredible shape, will be wearing a series of costumes created by some of the biggest designers on the international scene.
The Queen of Pop will perform in Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexander Wang outfits, with accessories by Prada and Miu Miu.
The stylist Arianne Phillips will oversee the star’s looks.
Dolce & Gabbana have created the clothes for the band and vocalists, while Fausto Puglisi– a successful Italian talent – has produced the outfits for the dancers and J Brand has made jeans specifically for the tour. For a special performance of “Like a Virgin”, Madonna’s historic hit, the singer will wear a bra designed by Agent Provocateur.
Gaultier too has created for performance “Vogue” outfit that remember the famous corset of "Blonde Ambition Tour".
“We played with the ideas of a suit and a corset. But the corset is now like a cage,” said Gaultier. “I love Madonna,” the designer added. “She is the only woman I have asked to marry me.
She refused, of course. But when she asked me to do a costume for her for this tour, I couldn't refuse.”
Soon we will dedicate to the Queen of Pop a "Blond Ambition File".
