Back in the late 1970s and early ’80s, the only place hip New Yorkers wanted to be seen after dark was Studio 54. "It was truly an amazing time" - said Grece Jones - "Studio 54 was literally thriving with celebrities".

From Truman Capote to Liza Minnelli, from Michael Jackson to Richard Gere, Lauren Bacall, Sophia Loren, Woody Allen, Sylvester Stallone, Farrah Fawcett, Bianca Jagger, Dustin Hoffman, Shirley MacLaine, Olivia Newton-John, Diana Ross, Andy Warhol, Elton John and many many others, every hip and famous person in New York partied at Studio 54.

All of this was of course immortalized in hundreds of pictures, many of them part of the estate of Steve Rubell, Studio 54’s charismatic co-owner.

His private collection of photos and memorabilia will be auctioned January the 19th at noon by the Palm Beach Modern Auctions house, with prices ranging from 400 to 3000 $.
