Venice Film Festival 2013 - The Jury
#MOVIES
One of the most exciting pieces of news to come from the 70th Venice Film Festival, so far, is the news that the legendary Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci, who is famous for the likes of ‘Last Tango in Paris’ (1972), ‘The Last Emperor’ (1987) that won 9 oscars, ‘The Dreamers’ (2003) and, more recently, ‘Me and You’ (2012) will be President of the international Jury. Bertolucci made his Venice Film Festival debut way back in 1962 with his film ‘The Grim Reaper) and, from then on, he was screened on the lido many more times. Having him on the jury is big news and, as he said, he ‘has the knack of discovering the most mysterious niches of filmmaking in the most mysterious countries in the world.’
The decision was made by the Board of Directors of the Biennale chaired by Paolo Baratta, on the recommendation of Alberto Barbera, the Director of the Venice Film Festival.
On the closing night of the coming 70th Venice Film Festival (7 September 2013), the international Jury of Venezia 70, chaired by Bernardo Bertolucci and composed of a total of 9 key figures in the cinema and culture of various countries, will award the following official prizes to the feature-length films in Competition:
