The Karl Olympics
KARL LAGERFELD will personally unveil his Olympic-themed collection at Selfridges tonight, but we have a preview to show you first. Available to buy to £95 and £325.
Featuring jackets, skinny jeans and the designer's signature collars, the capsule range is tinged with metallic gold throughout - even the collars come in gold, silver and bronze colourways. The collection will be housed at a new pop-up store on the third floor of Selfridges, which will also be home to the designer's new luxury menswear line, Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man, as well as his masstige line - which launched on NET-A-PORTER.COM in January. The store's homage to the Kaiser will continue in its windows, which will be decorated to a Lagerfeld theme.
From the Olympic line, expect T-shirts bearing Olympic gold torches, gold medal prints and Karl's face (naturally), biker jackets, miniskirts and skinny jeans covered in flecks of metallic gold.
The autumn/winter 2012-13 masstige line, however, is more in keeping with the designer's signature aesthetic, featuring a largely monochrome colour palette, sharp lines and tailoring, including a cropped tuxedo jacket worn over a crisp white waistcoat. Collars prevailed throughout both lines - Lagerfeld likes his women looking smart.
