MTV Movie Awards 2012
Yesterday, the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal City in California staged the MTV Movie Awards, the film prizes decided online by the public. Scrolling down the list of nominations – even these decided by popular vote – adding in the MTV target group and shaking the lot together, you didn’t need any particular prophetic skill to guess the winners.
The only question was: Twilight or The Hunger Games?
Obviously, this was an exercise in tween fence-sitting: they couldn’t ditch their idols but at least allowed them to fight it out. Novelty won in the end this year, beating both the serial appearances of Harry Potter, the Hogwarts’ magician (who won Best Cast and Best Hero), and the supernatural love of Bella and Edward, which took home the prize for Best Kiss. For all the rest, it was The Hunger Games.
