To embellish garments and accessorizes of his RTW Fall 2013 collection Raf Simons chooses playful and delicate vintage illustrations made by Andy Warhol in the late 50′s. Some of the famous early sketches of shoes and slippers adorn the bags , while flowers, butterflies and ethereal female heads lighten the elegant outfits. Amazing.
By choosing to explore Andy Warhol’s early drawings as graphic inspiration for his dreamlike collection, Simons managed to also consolidate the remarkable affinity that he and Christian Dior apparently shared. Their love for art and their retro fascination created a bridge between past and present, best reflected in the spectacular “memory dresses” gently embroidered with symbolic motifs.
